German Cookies

This is currently my favourite cookie - German Cookie! It used to be chocolate chewy cookie but this cookie has totally stolen my heart! It melts in your mouth, that feeling is so amazing. I was some what dancing in the kitchen when i had the first piece. No idea why it's called German cookie but i doubt it originated from German, hah. PRIS GOH, YOU NEED TO TRY THIS!! I twisted the recipe a little by adding in orange essence, orange zest and cinnamon powder and it tasted so much better~ Those in asterisks are the add on to the original recipe.

Melt-in-mouth German Cookies 德式酥饼(Recipe adapted from smallsmallbaker)

Ingredients (makes 60 pieces)

125g butter
40g icing sugar, sifted
125g potato starch
80g superfine/cake* flour (I use plain flour, tried out both 50g and 80g, both good)
1.5 tsp orange essence*
1-2 tbsp orange zest*(more or less up to personal preference)
2-3 dash of cinnamon powder*

Method

1. Beat butter, icing sugar and *orange essence till fluffy and lighter in colour.

2. Sift in potato starch, flour, *orange zest and cinnamon, mix to form a soft dough.

3. Roll into small balls (about 2cm in diameter), arrange on lined baking pan and press lightly with a fork (dip the fork in water after each press to prevent cookie dough from sticking to the fork).

4. Bake in preheated oven at 170 deg C for 15 mins, upper rack (need not bake till cookies turn brown).

28th May Dinner

Shared a table with this uncle who brings stacks of 50 dollar notes to dine at hong lim. Har mee soup there is yummy! :) Felt the flu coming, grabbed a bottle of ginseng chrysanthemum and gosh, it's so bitter from the excess ginseng taste.


Whenever i'm dining alone, i just have got the urge to buy something back. Who would give this childhood snack a miss right? I remember how my gramps would buy it as a treat when they were taking care of me many years back. The white wrapper packet that the soy snack is sitting on is peanut candy, something which i love to munch on with white bread :D S U G A R R U S H.

25th May Dinner

Had the whole full hour of break time today cause fellow colleague came in late and would only be able to leave at 9, since we're going back together i thought i should just use up the full hour and fill myself with something nice. Strolled over to Hong Lim as it's one of the nearest place around with great food.

To the sixteen year old me

Dear 16 year old me,

I know how you are feeling right now after you have broke up with your first love. It's alright, though you may take more than a year to get over it but you will find someone who you love down the road of the coming 7 years, getting in love; getting out of love; getting hurting; hurting someone; loved; and being loved. You will learn that it is just part and parcel of life and will soon to not take them so seriously until you meet him.

You are going to be super puzzled with what course/school to study after receiving the prelim's results. You had wanted to go SRJC for the first three months but decided against it all in all because you ended up slacking your time off and not applying for any. Well, you ended in a course that you least expected and have no clue with; worst to come, you didn't know anyone who's in the same course and your best friends are in NYP, SP, and NP BIZ. BUT you did yourself well by graduating with a diploma with merit and got into NUS :)

Life isn't that bad when you eventually met Reagan during the first few week of class during elective modules, the way you guys got together was an inside joke between Ace, Christina, and you couple. Things might have been good if Reagan didn't turn his back on you with a online girl from playing MapleStory. Don't get him back together after the first break up! He's only worth the first year of the relationship.

In the second half poly year 2, your bff, Lilian, got a crush on this mini eye guy named Kenny. Surprisingly, his bff is Jeremy who is your primary mate and you guys started hanging out very often. And this group outing eventually turns out to be a frequent meet up for Kenny and you. Now, i must say. Don't ever ever ever fall in love with Kenny and stop hanging out with him alone the moment neither Lilian and Jeremy can make it. You will only regret. Not just in this second half of your poly life but worst to come in 2010.

The rest of the guys are not that important anymore in that section of life.

Stay away from a relationship with Siang Long if you do not wish to destroy your friendship with him! Not to forget, skip the prom night for poly graduation if you wish to avoid the awkwardness with Dave Quah in the near future. However, even if you do go for it, things will be fine after a couple of months (yea, MONTHS).

Up till now, Dave and Kah Heng are still your best friends from poly. The girls from Outram never change and are still the same great clique even thou you girls don't meet up that often apart from birthday celebrations and major events.

University is a HELL LOT OF FUN! Make sure you apply for NUS and choose computing, cause you are just going to meet lots and lots of awesome people in there as well as that someone special. Firstly, you will meet this toot looking guy named Tan Yan Hao who is going to help you damn lot in programming business and a great company for supper at Geylang. Next, make sure you join the camp committee when psyco-ed by Wing Yan and Sylvia because you're going to meet the other best in the Freshmen Orientation Camp. She and Hui Ying will tell you all about how they need to shit in the morning at the girls toilet, haha. Finally, even though you are going to get all hurt and down from knowing this guy named Chris Chua but he will turn out to be another comfort friend after all the drama mama.

Being in love is not an easy task, but finding the right person is even tougher.

Here's a few steps you will need to follow to ensure that you catch him

1. Join Rag dance for year 2010
2. Accept Colin's request to hitch a ride together with them from him to HBF
   
3. Accept his offer to send you back home even when he uses lousy excuses like he's helping his dad to send/collect stuff from Zouk area (you actually believe him then)
4. Go for Rick's Hall party and accept his rides
5. Agree to go for steamboat with him after losing IFG basketball match
   
6. Agree to go Zouk with him, Darren and Tim and thereafter to NANA
7. Chase out after him when he got all emo at NANA
8. Prompt him for the reasons behind his mood
9. AGREE TO BE HIS GIRLFRIEND

He will love you with all he has and so will you.

Decided to cut the story short because i'm so lazy in getting the details out :X Those who know me well knows what happened in between and whatever they need to know, they would. If you want to know, you can always ask me, my gtalk is always available. It's subjective to my mood and the content though. Anyway, what's most important now isn't the past but the present.

Energy Draining

Haven't felt this exhausted for a long time. Met Pea, Juntang, Alan and J.Lo at 11 for lunch at 304 Serangoon Avenue 3 as recommended by pea and multiple newspapers cutting. As far as i know, the Indonesia food is famous and Tze Koi has mentioned a couple of times to me regarding that, uh huh! Honestly, i don't find the Indonesia food having that extra oompsh because i love those spices and spicy which i can't find at the store. Perhaps, it's the cheap pricing.

Mahjong-ed for 3东 within a short span of 5 hours odd, and Pea 一家赢三家 D: Even so, i'm not affected cause J.Lo refuses to play on the same table as i do. I shall win some moolah during my kukup trip instead. Settled for dins at Macpherson before we headed for a good 3 hour pool session at Toa Payoh where i got my accuracy up level. Was dead tired after the activities.

Rewarded myself today by cooking bak kwa aglio olio :)

I realized that i haven't been uploading any recent photos of myself on twitter/fb or even on my blog! Was blog hopping a few days back and saw this "make-up" tutorial whereby you can add on fake lipstick and decided to try it out with a photo that i took while waiting for the GE results to be released. Decided to use this shoot because i like how my nose look so nice! haha. My lips were pale so i added a tint of pink to them :)


P.S did the residents in marine parade really want NSP to win? 43% vote count is no jk. it's our future we are talking about here.

Floral prints

J.Lo promises more trips to JB in the future :D

The JB trip was fun and bloating! Been eating from KSL, Taman Sentosa to City Square. Crepes, Crayfish, Omelette, Herbal Chicken, Sambal KangKong, JCO Donuts, Takoyaki balls, Dessert D: Doesn't sound like a lot but it's seriously fulfilling and filling. Can't wait for our KL and Genting trip now.

J.Lo said my moo moo nail prints are not nice!! So... I have changed it to transparent based with white floral prints :p I'm just left with LAT, so i just i can afford this little time to change to something simple. The blue nail polish is a bitch to remove, took like 15-20 mins to get it off and not perfectly clean. Ugly stains here and there.

How my zebra strip inspired nails became cow prints.

Had wanted to do zebra strips on the nails but realized that i didn't have the stencils :( so moo moo prints it is! Terrible mess on the nails due to the lousy paint job from my shaky hands. Wanted a two tone prints as i thought it would turn out pretty, apparently i'm WRONG! Huge mistake. But i'm happy with the ribbon and heart shape prints on the thumb, it saves the day.

Would be heading to JB tomorrow with pea, clovis and J.Lo :) 3 cars, 3 drivers and 1 lousy passenger (free loader). Car wash, cheaper petrol, BKT and CHEAP SEAFOOD <3
